Easter Basket

With Easter just around the corner, I wanted to make something cute for my daughter.  I also had recently purchased these great egg dies from Cheery Lynn Designs that I have been dying to use.  I knew they would be great with some Glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle.

I decided to create a basket look.  The yellow base is punched with a corner/border punch on three sides.  Then I trimmed off the excess at the top, allowing the corner loops to create a great place to loop some cute blue flower ribbon to make a handle.  I created the top layer by using a square doily die and some pink striped cardstock.  I popped this up, leaving the top section open to create a pocket.

I added two die cut eggs created by layering them on 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape" and white cardstock.  I trimmed around them and then added glitter.  The blue egg is a combination of Cerise and Sunset and the yellow egg is a combination of Priceless Peacock and Shamrock.  I added three little chicks, using Baby Chick and Chick With Egg, from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  They are embossed using Teddy Brown Embossing Powder and colored with markers.  I used some SNS Brushable Glue to add a little Sun Dazzle Sparkle N Soft and popped them up on the front of the card.

The sentiment, Easter Wishes, is embossed using Sangria Star Embossing Powder, onto a die cut tag.  The ribbon on the tag is made to match by dying seam binding ribbon with reinkers.  It is attached to the back of a chocolate bunny so it can be pulled out of the pocket.

Let's Make Some Flowers

Thursday, during a recent blog hop, I promised I would post how I made the flowers on my card.  They are so easy and fun.

These flowers from my card are made with water color paper.  They are stamped with Peony 2 and Blossom 2, from Sparkle N Sprinkle and cut out with the coordinating Spellbinders Die, Blossom 3.

These flowers were made from just inked or painted cardstock and cut out with Spellbinders’ Rose Creations Die. On the pink flower, I added Starfire Glitter and Burgundy Glitz Glitter with SNS Brushable Glue.

The yellow flowers on my card were made with baby wipes.  You can create whatever colors you want, but you can also just save the ones you use from cleaning your stamps.  Fellow SNS Designer, April Williams, has a whole collection of these and has created some amazing flowers.  I guess I am a bit rough on my wipes because they are usually too worn to be able to use them.  However, they are very easy to make using ink.  I like to stamp with my stamp pads directly on my craft sheet, spritz lightly and use my wipes to clean it up.  This adds some great color.

Here are some additional samples using wipes cut out with Spellbinders’ Blossom 3 and Sizzix Tattered Florals die.

Ok, I know you can hardly wait to have directions so you can run to your craft room and start to play, so first run over to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog where I share all the details.

Have fun!!

My dogwood trees are just starting to bloom, as well as my azealeas.  My neighborhood is all a bloom.  I also heard that it was recently Mother’s Day in the UK and that is where the inspiration came from for my card.  I heat embossed the image, Becca with Tulips, and colored her with markers and a Dove Blender.  I adore her smiling face.  Reminds me of my little blond girls bringing me flowers.  I added lots of distressed layers and even some faux stitching.  The frame and flourish with butterflies are actually felt die cuts that I picked up at a local discount store.  There are so many great felt and chipboard dies available and you can make them look so spectacular by using Sparkle N Sprinkle’s Brushable Glue and adding some of their gorgeous glitters.  I used Green Nugget, Fascination, and Cyclamen.

The sentiment is Picked For You, also heat embossed, and added to look like a tag, surrounded by flourishes and a bow.  I used seam binding ribbon for the bow that I spritzed and smooshed into some diluted ink to give it a little variation.  Go here for detailed instructions on this card.

The flowers on my card are homemade.  The large pink flower and the two blue flowers are made using Peony 2 and Blossom 2 images, cut out with Spellbinders’ Blossoms 3 die.  The two yellow flowers are die cut from baby wipes.  Come back to the Sparkle NSprinkle blog on Sunday, March 25 to see how to make these flowers.

Ok, only two more designers to visit and you will have made it!!  Head over to Jill Jacobsen’s  lovely blog for some awesome creativity.  Don’t forget to leave a comment before you leave!

Good luck and come back soon.

Sugar and Spice

The card I want to share today was so fun, and a little emotional, to make.  I started this for Joan’s Garden challenge of pink/white and Simon Says’ challenge of three different papers, but got so carried away that I didn’t have it done and really needed to go to bed.  I came home today and was relieved to see that Simon Says’ new challenge was “Anything Goes” and ended up spending the entire evening working on the same card.  As I worked on it I started remembering when my little girls took dance classes and that is what made me a bit emotional.  I just had to get all girly and frilly with this adorable image.

Isn’t she adorable?  This image is Sparkle N Sprinkles’ Mandy the Ballerina.  I heat embossed her with Teddy Brown embossing powder and colored her with markers.  Her sweet outfit and ballet slippers are paper pieced, using decorative paper and Sangria Star embossing powder.  I cut out part of the frilly bottom a second time and popped it on top to give it dimension.  She is cut out with a Spellbinders Classic Oval die and layered on a Rectangular Frame die, covered with Sangria Star embossing powder, and then on a Spellbinders Label die.   This is all layered on the card front with layers of white, light pink, and dark pink cardstock and combinations of three different decorative papers.

The sentiment is Sugar & Spice from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  Both stamps can be purchased individually or as part of the Daddy’s Princess set.  The small flowers, butterfly, and branches are die cuts, combined with two white silk flowers.  The white layer behind the small rectangles in the background is created using a corner/border punch.

Check back in the morning for a new card for Sparkle N Sprinkles’ new monthly sketch challenge.

Pure Delight

Can you believe it is already March?  Well, that means it is time for a new Sketch Challenge at the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog.  I really like sketch challenges because I love to see all the fantastic ideas everyone comes up with!  They are always sooo amazing!!   I can’t wait to see what you do with this:

It is a fun, easy sketch so I hope everyone will pull out their papers and stamps (SNS only) and get creative.  Don’t forget to go to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog to get all the details and requirements and leave a direct link to your card with Mr. Linky.

Now for a little inspiration.  I really wanted to use this image, Palm Hammock, which is included in SNS’ new Surfin’ Woody set.  I was digging through my massive amount of papers and found these two fun designer papers that I have had for a long time.  Perfect!!  To create the two sides, I have found it easier to cut both sheets at the same time so they line up better.  First I cut a rectangle the size I wanted for my card front and then I cut the diagonal on both, at the same time, too.  This provides me with perfectly matched triangles from each paper, plus an extra set for a 2nd card.

I stamped and heat embossed the image, using VersaMark ink and Cerulean Embossing Powder, on Clear Embossable Acetate.  I colored from the back and added Hit the Beach Embossing Powder.  This is layered on a slightly larger piece of Sticker Paper, the edges covered with Blue Lightning Glitter, and then popped up in the center of the card with squares of foam tape.  See – fun and easy!!  For more details on this card, visit Sparkle N Sprinkle here.  For more inspiration from some of my fellow designers, head over to the SNS blog.

Ok, I do have a little tip for everyone.  Do NOT leave your embossing powders open next to an open glitter that is similar color.  After adding the embossing powder behind my image I accidently poured my Hit the Beach embossing powder into my lovely Florida Beach Glitter. Grrrr!  I tried to pour it back off and saved everything in a little bag to play with later but alas I think I just made it worse.  Guess I will be getting some new glitter.

Have a sparkling day!

E. Marie
